Building bridges between Christian donors and ministries

OUR APPROACH

OUR APPROACH

Counsel & Capital’s four principal services are focused on building bridges of confidence between left-brain donors and right-brain ministries.

1. ANNUAL AWARDS:

    • Annual Report Awards
We offer three annual cash awards to Christian ministries as an incentive to develop transparent, relevant, and meaningful communication, based on our Elements of an Effective Annual Report.

The Annual Awards combine compelling benefits for both donors and ministries. These awards present an attractive opportunity for donors looking for high return on investment and for ministries at transformational moments.

Annual Awards’ winners are chosen each year by a revolving committee of donors, creating an open door for donors looking for more hands-on involvement.

“You probably are unaware of how much God used you in my life and thus blessed Grace Centers of Hope (Pontiac Rescue Mission). Thank you for mentoring me in areas where I didn’t have a clue! Grace Centers of Hope receiving the Crain Award for “Best Managed Charity In Michigan” and “The Michigan Award” I attribute to your coaching me. I can still hear you saying to me, ‘Are you crazy’(ha).”

– Kent Ward Clark, CEO/Author Foreknown

“I am grateful for your support…with this annual report. Your wisdom, push, outside-the-box thinking are all valued.”

– Doug Lockhart, Former President, Biblica

2. INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

  • First, we help ministries uncover the single opportunity or obstacle that, if captured or removed, would most dramatically accelerate progress.
  • Then, we help ministries develop a strategy to capture the opportunity or remove the obstacle.
  • Sometimes, Counsel & Capital invests money directly with the ministry to help implement an approved strategy.

Implementation of these actions has very high rates of return and leads to bursts of progress for participating ministries.

Investment Opportunities can be found within a donor’s favorite ministry. This allows donors to “own” a portion of the resulting progress in a ministry they care about.

Importantly, donors receive a “Post-Giving Report Card” providing transparent results of the outcomes of their giving, both the positive and not so positive results.

3. BRIDGE-BUILDING TOOLS:

  • For small projects, we help ministries create a Giving Proposal, a succinct and fact-based synopsis that provides the kind of information left-brain donors seek.
  • For large projects, we help ministries create a Giving Prospectus, a transparent discussion of critical issues and risks that looks and reads like a business funding document with which many left-brain donors are familiar.
  • For various ministries, we provide guidance in the development and publication of an Annual Report.
  • For all ministries, we encourage and assist with the publication of a “Post- Giving Report Card” to report on positive and not so positive results.

“We have received… a gift of $1,000,000 from a man to whom I sent the prospectus… To say he was very impressed is an understatement.”

–Rob Iverson, Chairman, The Masters Academy International
